Al joined the firm in 1973 as a Research Director, during which time he specialized in Civil Rights, Criminal, and State & Local Government Law. He has served in numerous managerial capacities over the ensuing years, including Assistant Center Director for the former Ann Arbor, Michigan, office, and Center Director, Department Head, and Vice President of Operations. He is currently Vice President for Marketing, manages the firm's regional offices in Texas and Florida, and serves on the Operations Committee with Ed Gerber, Vice President, and Steve Hart, President.
Al is also a graduate of the University of Virginia Mental Health Counseling Program and the Spiritual Direction Institute. He maintains a part-time counseling practice with Andy Anderson, Ph.D., is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and enjoys leading retreats on various spiritual topics. He is a gourmet pizza maker, a nascent vintner, a mediocre golfer, and enjoys walking abroad. He otherwise spends time with Beverly, his wife of 41 years, and, lately, his three adorable grandchildren.
