NLRG Standard Business Terms

1. All research materials provided to you by National Legal Research Group are for your use as a practicing attorney. We cannot engage in a working relationship with your client or in the practice of law.

2. Because National Legal Research Group is not engaged in the practice of law, no communication from us can be regarded as a legal opinion.

3. Our work will be conducted according to your instructions and is intended to become part of your own work product.

4. Our contractual relationship is exclusively with you, as the requesting attorney, and our work product is intended solely for your benefit, not your client's. There is no intention on the part of National Legal Research Group to provide your client with direct or third-party contractual rights or benefits from this relationship or otherwise.

5. Our fee includes a 6% surcharge, billed as a separate line item, to pay the cost of computer-assisted legal research. This fee has already been included in the estimate you have been given.

6. When appropriate, our fee will include an administrative fee of $60/hour (or $100/hour for requests made within five working days) for extraordinary use of support staff time beyond preparation of a complete draft of a work product. This fee has already been included in the estimate you have been given.

7. In some circumstances we will require a retainer to begin work. Otherwise, our invoices are due and payable upon receipt. If needed, deferred payment terms must be arranged in advance with our business office.

8. Payment for research and analysis from National Legal Research Group is the personal responsibility of the requesting attorney.

9. All charges and balances on National Legal Research Group statements for services rendered that are not paid within 30 days of the statement date are subject to the following annual service charge rates, computed and added to the unpaid balance monthly: 18% (monthly periodic rate 1.5%) for all states except Arkansas and Texas, 6% (monthly periodic rate 0.5%); and Vermont, 12% (monthly periodic rate 1%). THERE IS NO SERVICE CHARGE WHEN PAYMENT IS MADE WITHIN 30 DAYS.
